Clean URL's in Textpattern 1.0RC1

Posted on: 12.08.2004

No sooner than I get this site converted over to a default install of TXP that zem comes out with a super plugin called zem_rewrite.

After installing and messing around for a few minutes, I got true clean URL’s working in TXP without having to modify any native files. SWEET!!! There are a few tweaks that I need to do yet to get things set up the way that I want, but everything looks really good so far. I even modified the code for the rss_suparchive plugin so that it generates the correct URL structure.

The only complaint that I have about zem_rewrite is that my 404 redirects are not working because the zem_rewrite mod_rewrite code causes all URL’s to pass through the TXP default index file. As a result this is causing my stats to record every single bad URL as a resource since TXP is receiving every URL. Supposedly zem is working on a solution… so that’s good.

Overall I’m mega happy that I converted my site when I did because now I have a much faster and more streamlined site thanks to TXP and the wonderful coding expertise of zem.
